Mark Richardson, CR is co-chairman of Case Design Remodeling, Bethesda, MD. He is a member of the NAHB Remodeling Hall of Fame, an Affiliate at Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing and a columnist for Professional Remodeler magazine. An early champion of the design/build model of business in remodeling, he helped grow Case Construction Co. to a national organization, generating over $50 million in installed volume annually.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear NARI Members,

I would like to pose a question; why do we do what we do? What motivates us to get up in the morning? What is our driver? This would be our vision. Once we figure out our designation we can then figure out what vehicle we are going to use to get us to where we are going. This is called our mission.

I would like to ask another question, Why does NARI exist? What is our purpose as an organization? NARI national says, "NARI's Core Purpose is to advance and promote the remodeling industry's professionalism, product & vital public purpose."

I personally feel that we need to know over the next 15 years where we are trying to advance NARI Charlotte to. If you have thoughts on where you feel NARI Charlotte should be heading, please call or email me so that we can go down this journey together, and as we hand off the baton we are all running in the same direction.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the dinner meeting on the 26th of this month, and it is not to late to sign up for the golf tournament on June 2nd at Birkdale.

Dear Members and friends of NARI,

May has already been a month of special events and special days such as May Day, Mother's Day, and Cinco de Mayo. May is particularly significant to our industry as it is traditionally recognized as National Remodeling Month. So, in this soft economy I encourage you to do all that you can to promote you name and quality work. Today's homeowner conducts their own research and refer to as many sources as possible not the least of which is our online directory. Make sure all your information is up to date and I encourage you to use the NARI logo in your advertising... the stamp signifies your commitment to professionalism and quality work.

This month's Dinner Meeting at the Crowne Plaza on Thursday, May 26, you are invited to attend as a guest of Professional Remodeler Magazine on a no charge basis. This special event celebrates National Remodeling Month and the editorial staff plans to give you information that you can use in your business the very next day. Please attend!

As May then comes to a close, we all celebrate Memorial Day when we should all give pause and be thankful for those who have given so much in our armed forces to protect the freedoms and liberty that we enjoy as Americans. God bless the USA!
